Testing

Test, tag and report from your phone.

Snap the item and it fills itself in. Tap Pass, the tag prints, and the report's done.

See it

From the item to the report in four taps

No typing make and model off a worn plate, and no evening spent writing up the register.

How it works

Snap, check, test, tag

  1. 1

    Snap

Take a photo of the item, and a close-up of its rating plate if you like.

  2. 2

    Check

Make, model, serial, class and rating fill themselves in. Anything unclear says Check this, and blanks stay blank.

  3. 3

    Test

Test it with your own tester, then tap Pass or Fail. Add the readings, or import them from your tester later.

  4. 4

    Tag & report

The tag prints with a QR on it, and the item's on your customer's register, ready for the PDF report.

What you can test

On your phone, on site

Test and tag

Appliances, leads, power boards and tools. Every item lands on your customer's register with its photo, result, tag number and retest date.

  • Snap the item to add it: make, model, serial, class and rating filled in from the photo
  • Bulk site mode for big sites: a running count, big Snap, Pass and Fail buttons, Print, Next
  • Import the results from your tester's export file (CSV or Excel)

The records

Everything your customer asks for, already on the report

SparkyBuddy helps you record and report your testing to AS/NZS 3760. You do the testing as the licensed worker; it keeps the records.

A PDF report your customer keeps

Every item, its result and retest date, the totals, and who tested it with their licence number and a signature line.

A photo on every item

Each item you snap keeps its photo on the customer's register, so next time you know exactly what you tested.

Failed items, on their own

Failures get their own section in the report, with bigger photos and a photo of the fault.

Your tester and its calibration on the report

Pick your test instrument once per job. Its serial and calibration due date go on the report, with a warning if it's out of date.

Works with no signal

Plant rooms and basements are fine. Snaps wait on your phone and fill in once you're back in signal.

Retest by scanning the tag

Next time, scan the QR on the tag to open the item and retest it. No hunting through a list.

Import your tester's results

Bring in your tester's export file (CSV or Excel). Results land on the right items by tag number or QR.

Questions

Does it test for me?+

No. You do the testing, with your own calibrated tester, the same as now. SparkyBuddy records each item with its photo and result, prints the tag and puts together the report.

Which standard does it follow?+

It helps you record and report your testing to AS/NZS 3760: the item, its class, the result, who tested it, the test instrument and its calibration, and when it's due again. The testing itself, and the decisions on site, are still yours as the licensed worker.

Which label printer do I need?+

Use a Brother PT-P710BT or PT-E560BT Bluetooth label printer with 24 mm laminated TZe tape. 12 mm, 18 mm and 36 mm TZe tape work too (36 mm on a Brother that takes it), and so do the 62 mm Brother roll, 29 x 90 mm Brother labels and A4 label sheets.

Do I need a new tester?+

No. Keep using the tester you have, whatever the brand. Add it once with its serial number and calibration due date. It goes on every test and on the report, and you're warned if it's out of calibration.

What if there's no signal?+

Keep going. Each snap waits on your phone, shows Reading… and fills itself in when you're back in signal. Nothing is lost.

Can my customer see the report?+

Yes. Send them the PDF report to keep: every item, its result and retest date, the test instrument, and the failed items in their own section with photos. For a big site, send it without photos to keep the file small.

Can I import results from my tester?+

Yes. Export a CSV or Excel file from your tester's software and import it on the job. Check the columns once and save them for next time. Results attach to items by tag number or the QR on the tag, and importing the same file twice doesn't add anything twice.

What happens to the photos?+

Each one stays with its item on your customer's register, so next time you can see what you tested last time. A small copy goes in the PDF report. They stay in your business's account and only go to your customer when you send the report.
